The Residenz Wood Frame Construction System by Rubner

For those who prefer plastered façades but are not willing to give up the pleasure of having a timber home, the Residenz System is a perfect fit. Timber frame construction has been used for centuries: it is a traditional, tried-and-true design.

Wood frame construction is ideal when planning a Low-Energy House: a wooden house designed in this way provides excellent thermal insulation and is extremely energy efficient. Rubner used this method more than twenty years ago to build the company’s first Low-Energy House – and was thus a pioneer in the current trend of building Klimahaus (ClimateHouse) and Passive Houses.

When we use the term “prefabricated” in reference to the Residenz System, incidentally, it does not denote that the house itself is prefabricated: a wood frame house allows our most discerning clients practically unlimited creative freedom in terms of design and planning. The construction process is as simple and quick as a prefabricated house, but without the limited options for specifications one encounters when ordering a house out of a catalogue.

A good example of the high level of aesthetic quality and design flexibility made possible by wood frame construction is the Klimahaus "Heidis" designed by eminent architect Matteo Thun.
