Homes with Optimal Energy Efficiency

The KlimaHaus (Climate House) Project is based on a stratification of energy classifications that are assigned according to yearly energy consumption. Each individual building is given a rating: Gold, A, B, C, D or F. Other factors are taken into account when grading a building such as whether the building was conceived of with energy efficiency in mind from the outset and whether environmentally hazardous building materials, chemicals or tropical hardwood were used. Whether or not the heating system utilises renewable resources is another criterion for classification.

KlimaHaus B

Heating energy requirements less than 50 kWh/m2.a
A KlimaHaus B needs annually less than 5 litres of heating oil or 5 cubic metres of gas per square metre floor area.

KlimaHaus A

Heating energy requirements less than 30 kWh/m2.a
A KlimaHaus A needs annually less than 3 litres of heating oil or 3 cubic metres of gas per square metre floor area.

KlimaHaus Gold

Heating energy requirements less than 10 kWh/m2.a
A KlimaHaus Gold uses annually less than one litre of heating oil or one cubic metre of gas per square metre floor area.
