Rubner Timber Homes – Nature Augmented
Wood is a renewable material: universally available and thus widely used. The only things required to make it are water, air and sun.
Rubner uses only wood from mountain forests that are operated under very strict regulations. The processing of the wood into building material consumes comparatively little primary energy; virtually no pollutants are emitted. If the material is utilised for heating when it is disposed of, the equivalent amount of CO² that the tree would have used during its growth is emitted. Thus, using wood as a building material maintains a neutral CO² balance.
In order to transport the materials necessary to build a 100m² Rubner Timber Home, only 3 truckloads are required. For a similarly sized brick house, on the other hand, about 20 truckloads of materials must be delivered. The resulting fuel savings has a marked effect on the overall carbon footprint of the construction project.
Last but not least, Rubner’s manufacturing facilities are heated only with the waste generated during the processing of timber – again, no fossil fuels are required.
